Ship for convertion to mega yacht. "The admiral ship the Vis was constructed in 1956 at the Uljanik shipyard as the elite staff officer ship of the Yugoslav Navy. Together with the renowned and larger the Galeb, the Vis was the only ship with such purpose, and, opposed to the Galeb, it was designed exclusively for that function.
The ship is unique, designed and manufactured as a luxury yacht, meeting the extremely high standards of final elaboration. It is 58 metres long, the width of the widest part is 8,7 metres, with the draught of 3 metres and the displacement of 670 tons. It was ran by two motors of 1000 horsepower each, with three additional supporting aggregates.
The hull was constructed of the best quality steel, and the deck of aluminium. All decks are covered with 6-centimetre thick and top quality teakwood. On the ship are two salons, one admiral’s and one officer's salon, while it originally had 32 cabins with 52 beds."
Motor Yacht “VIS” was constructed in the Pula shipyard Uljanik in 1956.
VIS was admiral ship constructed as the elite staff officer ship of the Yugoslav Navy used by president of Yugoslavia, famous Tito. Together with the renowned and larger yacht Galeb, Vis was the only ship with such purpose, and, opposed to the Galeb, it was designed exclusively for that function.
The ship is unique, designed and manufactured as a luxury yacht, meeting the extremely high standards of final elaboration. All highest-ranking navy officers in the former Yugoslavia served on the Vis. Every time the Galeb was outside the Adriatic or when it was being repaired, the Vis would become the commander-in-chief's ship.
The Vis also welcomed numerous world-renowned personalities from show-business and politics, among other, the members of the British royal family were its guests on several occasions. |
